Hi, I'm Jo

I am a product designer based in the UK. I specialise in design that does good.

About Me.

I am a seasoned UX designer with 6+ years of experience, working on products that tackle geographical, social, and technical barriers.

Before transitioning to design, I was an A-level Psychology teacher, which developed my deep understanding of the intricate, contradictory and messy nature of human behaviour and motivation. This perspective coupled with my warm and curious nature, means I excel at unravelling nuanced problems and transforming the complex into the simple.

This year, I'm excited by recent developments in digital sustainability and I have been closely following the evolution of the Sustainable Web Manifesto and Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG) 1.0. These movements really align with my values that digital products can do good – whether that be for the planet, by reducing energy consumption, or for users – by encouraging healthier, informed and equitable access to information.

Outside of work.

Outside of work, I volunteer for a local CIC, Catalyse Change. Catalyse Change work to empower young women looking to work in sustainable careers. This year, I’ve been supporting the team with various activities from social media marketing and content creation, to UX improvements on their website.

I also like to read and travel (mainly together). My favourite books of the year have been;

  • What You Are Looking for is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama,

  • Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin,

  • and Roar by Cecelia Ahern.

Travel wise I’ve managed to get to Australia and Malaysia this year and fingers crossed for a summer break in the next few months!
